Staff

This fall we will be returning to school with a new full time live in House Mother, a full time cook, Full time House Director and part time custodial and kitchen support staff.

Dianne McDonald has been hired as our new House Mother. She is joining us after over 35 years as a secondary teacher. Her primary duties will be “non physical” house operations and working with the officers, university administration and coordination of fraternity, family and alumni events. Parents weekend, homecoming, graduation and any receptions will be coordinated by Dianne. Our goal in bringing Dianne onboard is to create a more homelike and supportive atmosphere. Too often we find the chapter (and as a result the parents and alumni) in a “scrambling” situation. In addition, since this position is new for Delta Chi, we’re looking for additional ideas from our parents and alumni might have to assist in fully utilizing her talents and diverse skills. Our first year with this new position will be one of change and awareness!

Kevin Comisky is returning for an additional year as our live in House Director. Kevin’s primary duties are the “physical” plant and financial operations of the property and chapter programming. In addition he is the current liaison to Greek Affairs and the University Dean’s office. Kevin’s institutional knowledge of the internal operation of both the chapter and house property will make our transitions to new chapter and house operations smoother. In addition to working for Delta Chi Kevin is a real-estate agent in Tucson.

In the late fall we recruited from a “dude ranch” a new executive chief to run our kitchen, Gina Durocher. Gina jumped right in and revamped our entire menu and kitchen program. Cooking for upwards of 100 guys at times can be a challenge to keep everyone happy, but Gina has been successful so far. She is looking forward to this fall when she will be able to start with a budget! Gina has been working during the down time this summer preparing and planning new menu items, maintaining and repairing the kitchen equipment and testing dishes. In addition to our cooks, we supplement with additional kitchen staffers who prep, clean and assist in kitchen operations.

Keeping the chapter property clean and disinfected is handled by our Janitor who spends 20 to 30 hours a week taking care of Delta Chi’s common areas. Chapter members are expected to assist with cleaning duties as well as grounds maintenance. Our staff are expected to make sure the showers and restrooms are disinfected and cleaned daily. Members assist with less critical tasks, while still taking the responsibility of keeping things clean. Outdoor grounds keeping is also done by our Janitor with chapter members assistance.

Summer and school time maintenance for the past two years was shifted and is coordinated by Taylor Heidenheim Greek House Facility Assessment Services, LLC. Now when we return to the chapter on August 15th, we return to a clean and ready to go chapter house. Grubbing out the individual bedrooms and utilizing vendors who combine services with other fraternities has actually saved us more than the very reasonable fees charged for the work conducted. This summer we have limited items to tackle, as our Sprinklers and major repairs have been made.
